October 26, 2018 @ 7:00 pm
$25.00 - $30.00
New World Alphabet, the fifth and latest release from Toronto campfire dance partiers USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker), is all about using your words. More specifically, how you use your words to improve your life.
“New World Alphabet comes from the average amount of words people use, which I think is 8,000-12,000,” says USS vocalist/guitarist Ashley Buchholz, one half of the band that also includes turntablist/hype man Jason “Human Kebab” Parsons. “It’s just putting them in different orders,” he continues. “In terms of just not being content with the state of your life. Ultimately, what you have to do is put words that you already know in different orders and that’s going to fundamentally change the foundation of your life.” This process is something the band refers to as “enlightened insanity.” Playing itself out over the album’s eight songs, New World Alphabet explores many of life’s highs and lows, from the universal feelgood first single Work Shoes (co-written with One Republic founding member, Tim Myers) and the golden state-inspired California Medication, through to the heavier life experiences like feeling uncomfortable in one’s skin – Alien, and hitting rock bottom – Us & Vulcan.”
